Hardcore mode is harder then the Hard and Impossible modes, you can only save three times during the entire campaign and you're limited to 1 existence. Your inventory will stay the same, but your chapter progress is reset. New Game+ is unlocked after you complete the game once. Completion unlocks the MK-II Overclocked Parts Set and a Mega Resource Deposit. The Pulse Rifle or Plasma Cutter are good complements to either the Javelin Launcher or the Force Gun I'd say.Enemies only drop resources, and there's no ammo, health, or weapon parts to be found. Its a decent weapon, but until you get the right Upgrade Circuits to compensate and fine-tune it, it just won't be the same without the Mods to boost its crowd control and damage capabilities.įorce Gun is a good go-to, so long as you have something for long range, mobile boss-fights. However, so far the Rivet Gun I purchased in Classic hasn't paid off nearly as much, and I find myself using mainly the Javelin. My custom Rivet Gun in my Impossible playthrough dropped essentially everything (even Advanced Necromorphs) with one or two detonated rivets (often with collateral damage), and with the right Upgrade Circuits had extremely high ROF, magazine size, and damage potential to boot. It can drop single or grouped Necromorphs in a single discharge, crowd-control the Feeders fairly well (use chokepoints, but if all else fails, just jolt the ground), and is very satisfying to use.Ĭomplement it with something that is faster or otherwise better for taking out mid to long-range, fast-moving targets, such as the tentacles on the back of that crab thing, as they can be hard to hit and the electrocution module won't help you against them (the spikes that stick are incapable of being electrified for some reason). The Javelin Launcher has served me extremely well.
